How to receive a file someone sent you
If a friend or colleague shared a SendMe code, here's exactly what to do.
Receiving on SendMe is even simpler than sending — there's no signup and no app to install. You have three different ways to receive depending on what the sender shared with you.
Method 1 — A 6-digit code
Visit sendme.co.in, click the 'Receive' tab, and type the 6-digit code (e.g., 482931). Hit Enter. If the file has a password, you'll see a password prompt next. After verification, the download starts automatically.
Method 2 — A direct link
Click the link the sender shared (it looks like sendme.co.in/r/482931). You'll land directly on the download page — no need to retype the code.
Method 3 — A QR code
Open your phone's camera app and point it at the QR. Tap the notification that appears. This works on iPhone 11+ and Android 9+ out of the box without a third-party scanner app.
If the code doesn't work
Three possible reasons: (a) the transfer expired — codes are short-lived; (b) you mistyped a digit — recheck; (c) the sender deleted the transfer. Reach out to the sender for a fresh code.
Should you trust the file?
SendMe verifies that the file you receive is byte-identical to what the sender uploaded. We don't, however, vet content. Always treat files from strangers with caution: scan executables with antivirus, never enable macros in office documents, and don't click links inside PDFs you weren't expecting.
