Download percentage is stuck or very slow
Network throttling, CDN caching, and what to do when a download crawls.
Downloads should saturate your available bandwidth. If you're seeing 50-100 KB/s on a normal home connection, something is throttling — and it's usually one of these.
1. ISP-level throttling
Some ISPs throttle file-sharing services. Switch to mobile data briefly and re-test — if it's noticeably faster on mobile, your ISP is the culprit. A VPN often bypasses this.
2. Concurrent downloads
If you're downloading a multi-file transfer, our client fetches files in parallel by default. On slow connections this can cause apparent stalls as bandwidth gets split. Cancel and re-try with single-file downloads (click each file individually instead of 'Download all').
3. Browser limits
Some browsers cap parallel connections per host. If you're getting consistently slow speeds, try a different browser (Firefox vs Chrome) — sometimes that alone doubles throughput.
4. Origin region
SendMe's storage is currently in Asia-South. Receivers in the Americas or Europe will see higher latency. We're working on multi-region CDN deployment — expected mid-2026.
